HOLLYWOOD & RAVENEL

What a storm claim looks like on Hollywood & Ravenel roofs.

A tropical system coming up the Stono hits Hollywood's water side first: Stono Ferry and Poplar Grove take lifted shingle and lost ridge cap off open marsh wind, and the ranches along Highway 162 and the Meggett road side get the oak and pine limbs. In Ravenel, the Highway 17 South corridor and Log Bridge Road take the canopy damage, and the barns and manufactured homes on the Caw Caw side lose metal panels.

We photograph every slope, separate storm damage from wear on a 1980s ranch shingle, write the scope in carrier format, and meet the adjuster on your roof in either town. A Poplar Grove or Stono Ferry home near the marsh that also took water gets the roof claim documented separately from any flood claim, and a manufactured home's roof-over is documented the way its carrier wants it.

An hour out, the first 48 hours are largely the owner's: photograph the roof, the yard and any barn from the ground, note the storm date, and open the wind claim, and the flood claim separately if the Stono or the Caw Caw came up. Then choose your own contractor. Ravenel and Hollywood see storm-chaser trucks late, after the closer suburbs are worked, and an out-of-state crew on a Highway 162 ranch is the roof you will be re-fixing in two years.

The rural claim needs every structure listed. A Ravenel property that lost house shingle, barn panels and a shed roof in the same storm has three items on the scope, and carriers routinely pay for the one that was photographed. We document the house, the outbuildings and the manufactured home roof-over as separate lines with their own photos so the settlement covers the property, not just the front elevation.

Asked in Hollywood & Ravenel.

Will a claim raise my premium?

Weather claims are generally treated differently from at-fault claims, but every carrier differs. Ask your agent before filing. We give you the documentation either way so you can decide.

How long do I have to file after a storm?

Most SC policies allow one year or more, but damage gets harder to prove as it weathers. Get it documented within weeks.

Do you waive deductibles?

No. That is insurance fraud in South Carolina. We price the job honestly and help you understand what the carrier owes.

How fast can you get out after a storm?

Inspections within 48 hours, sooner when a storm has come through. We photograph everything so the claim starts with proof.

What if the adjuster denies it?

We review their report against our photos and request a re-inspection when the evidence supports it.
